UPDATE ON POLICE CLASH WITH SHIITE MEMBERS, DEATH TOLL

At least 21 people have been reportedly killed in a clash that occurred between members of the Shiite Islamic Movement of Nigeria and the police in Kano on Monday, November 14. The casualty figure is said to have included 20 members of the group and a police sergeant whose identity is yet to be known. However, the police commissioner in the state, Rabiu Yusuf, put the figure at 9 including the police officer.
Eyewitness accounts say trouble broke out around Tamburawa, on the outskirts of Kano city, after the Police tried to stop the Shiite members who had embarked on the annual Arbaeen trek from Kano to Zaria.
The Kano police State Command, security operatives including anti-robbery squad units on their part allege that  they only intervened as the Shiite members began attacking motorists and passersby.
The Police Commissioner in the state, Rabiu Yusuf told journalists that one Police officer was also killed and four others injured in the incident
The incident is coming about a month after a mob confronted the members of the group while they were holding a rally also in Kano, leaving many of them with machete wounds.
The Kaduna State Government has formally declared the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) led by Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky as an unlawful society.
The government stated that the group is never a registered organisation in the state and members of the group have refused to conduct themselves with full adherence to the laws of the state.
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria came to prominence when its members clashed with the Nigerian Army in the northern city of Zaria, Kaduna state, in December 2015.
A judicial inquiry in August concluded that the army killed 348 of the sect’s members, a figure that the army has disputed. The group claimed on 12th December 2015 in a presentation made by the group to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Abuja that the military’s attack was premeditated and well planned.

Following that clash the Shiite sect’s leader has been held in custody, without charge, by Nigeria’s security agency since his December arrest following the clashes. His supporters have called for his release.
Members of the group have also held several protests demanding the release of their leader.
This latest clash is a clear indication that the federal government need to take a proactive approach to ensure avoidance of further clashes in future.

NOVENNA UNIVERSITY, HALF A MILLION SCHOOL FEES AND THE DUMP STUDENTS SLEEP IN

FACE OF NOVENNA UNIVERSITY HOSTELS AMAI, DELTA STATE

Any parent who is able to afford quality education for their children will most definitely go for the best. This is while over the the years there have been fierce competition between the private sector of our academic system and the public sector. If there is one argument which is almost as old as education itself is the fact that most people agree that private schools provide a better quality of education to their children than government owned schools .The level of education in private schools is expected to be of higher quality than that offered by public schools and also all round development of the pupil or student is expected within a reasonable time. These expectations placed on privately owned schools is not limited to the level of education alone, conducive learning and living environment is also one of the major reasons why parents send their children to private schools.
I was personally shocked to see the environment some students of the Novenna university live in even after paying millions as their tuition fee. I was so baffled by what I saw, I could not leave the school premises without writing about it. Below are some photos I took myself…

The state health and sanitary body needs to pay that school a visit and make sure peoples children are safe from infections and other dirt related illnesses, because if the rooms can be in this states, I wonder how their bathrooms and toilets will look like. HELP THE STUDENTS!!!

NIGERIA WILL BREAKUP - Uwazuruike

Leader of the Biafra Independent Movement (BIM), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike has stated that, the prophecy by the United States of America that Nigeria would split is still very much possible.
Speaking through his Director of Information, Mr. Chris Mocha, the BIM leader said resultant effect of the US army’s prediction included unabated insurgency in the North, herdsmen’s menace, militancy in Niger Delta, separatist agitations for Biafra Republic, the economic recession that had brought sufferings, poverty, looting spree and bribery and corruption by officials in government establishments.
“That nothing is working in Nigeria today has justified my Biafra struggle for independence.
“I cautioned Nigerian corrupt leaders who criticized the US army’s prediction of Nigeria’s possible breakup in 2015 as prophecy of doom, never to rejoice, insisting that the breakup of Nigeria into six republics is not yet over”, he said.
Uwazuruike recalled that in an article written by Director of the African Security Research Project in Washington DC and Guest Columnist of All Africa Globe Media, Mr. Daniel Volman, the Nigerian scenario was predicated upon a possible war.
“The article observed that it was the first time African scenarios were included as part of Pentagon’s plan to create a new military command for Africa, the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM)”, he added.
It also emerged that “the free flow of natural resources from Africa to the global market was one of the guiding principles of AFRICOM, as articulated by Vice Admiral Robert Moeller at an AFRICOM conference held at Fort McNair on February 18, 2006.”
Hmm, oga breakup...
