Mum calls 911,says 2 years old son killed her 1 year daughter

A 27 year old Florida mom, Kristen De Pasquale, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of her 1-year-old daughter, who police say was found with Halloween lights wrapped around her neck.
De Pasquale called 911 Thursday evening, claiming her 2-year-old son, Michael, choked his infant sister Mia Rice to death with the string of Halloween lights while she was taking a shower in the master bathroom. She said:
"I was taking a shower and my kids were out here playing and I came out and her like, I have the Halloween lights and it was wrapped around her neck. I was gone for two seconds!”
De Pasquale said she desperately tried to revive the child but couldn't.

Police say the child was discovered in a crouched position but with her feet on the floor.
Police Sgt. Matthew DePanicis also tried to revive the infant with CPR but she was pronounced dead an hour later at the Emergency Room.
Oviedo Police detective Christopher said their suspicions began when they checked the shower floor and it was dry. The towels she claimed to have used after she got out of the bathroom was also dry, indicating she was not in the shower when baby Mia was strangled. She also had full make up on, jewelry and her feet were dirty.
In addition, the Volunsia county medical examiner in Orlando, Marie Herrman said a toddler like Michael does not have the physical strength to strangle his baby sister.

The accused mom looked dazed when she appeared in court Monday.

She said only a single word.
The judge asked her: “Do you have any questions about your appearance here today?”

“No,” she replied.

The shocked judge said: “No? Gook luck, Ma'am. I feel for you.”

De Pasquale was held without bail.
Her attorney, Tim Caudill, refused to comment on whether she was innocent or guilty.
He said:
"This is a terrible tragedy for everyone involved," Caudill told the Orlando Sentinel. "She's very upset. She lost a child, a child she loved very much."
Michael was placed in the custody of a family member. The father of the children is currently serving time in prison on unrelated charges.
Wonders never seize. Shower floor dried? and a two years old killing a 1year old, almost unbelievable

JOINED NIGERIAN TWINS SUCCESFULLY SEPERATED

Conjoined twins from Nigeria have been successfully separated after a complex operation at a Tennessee hospital days before their first birthday.

Miracle and Testimony Ayeni were separated during 18 hours of surgery that began on November 7 and ended on November 8th at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital,.

Memphis, spokeswoman Anne Glanker said.
"Miracle and Testimony Ayeni came to Le Bonheur six months ago seeking help. They were born conjoined at the lower half of their bodies, sharing multiple organs. Connected, these girls would never be able to walk or ride a bike or even grow up to have families of their own. But last week, our expert surgical team performed a complex 18-hour surgery, successfully separating the twins. Today, their parents are able to hold t hem separately," the hospital said.

The twins were joined together at the pelvis, a condition that occurs in one of about 5 million births, said Dr. Max Langham, who led the surgery team.
"Without separation, their future wasn't very good," Langham said at a news conference on Tuesday. "They would grow up inconsistent, unable to walk, totally dependent for all of their care and unable to participate in the world fully."
On Wednesday, November 16th, the family had another reason to celebrate as it was the twins' first birthday.

This was made known in a State House Statement issued on Thursday. Signed by Mr. Femi Adesina, Presidential Adviser on Media and Publicity, the statement said President Buhari and Kerry spoke on the margins of the conference on climate change, COP22, in Marrakech, Morocco.

President Buhari said corrupt people have accumulated a vast arsenal of illicit wealth, which they are deploying against the government on various fronts.

UPDATE ON POLICE CLASH WITH SHIITE MEMBERS, DEATH TOLL

At least 21 people have been reportedly killed in a clash that occurred between members of the Shiite Islamic Movement of Nigeria and the police in Kano on Monday, November 14. The casualty figure is said to have included 20 members of the group and a police sergeant whose identity is yet to be known. However, the police commissioner in the state, Rabiu Yusuf, put the figure at 9 including the police officer.
Eyewitness accounts say trouble broke out around Tamburawa, on the outskirts of Kano city, after the Police tried to stop the Shiite members who had embarked on the annual Arbaeen trek from Kano to Zaria.
The Kano police State Command, security operatives including anti-robbery squad units on their part allege that  they only intervened as the Shiite members began attacking motorists and passersby.
The Police Commissioner in the state, Rabiu Yusuf told journalists that one Police officer was also killed and four others injured in the incident
The incident is coming about a month after a mob confronted the members of the group while they were holding a rally also in Kano, leaving many of them with machete wounds.
The Kaduna State Government has formally declared the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) led by Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky as an unlawful society.
The government stated that the group is never a registered organisation in the state and members of the group have refused to conduct themselves with full adherence to the laws of the state.
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria came to prominence when its members clashed with the Nigerian Army in the northern city of Zaria, Kaduna state, in December 2015.
A judicial inquiry in August concluded that the army killed 348 of the sect’s members, a figure that the army has disputed. The group claimed on 12th December 2015 in a presentation made by the group to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Abuja that the military’s attack was premeditated and well planned.

Following that clash the Shiite sect’s leader has been held in custody, without charge, by Nigeria’s security agency since his December arrest following the clashes. His supporters have called for his release.
Members of the group have also held several protests demanding the release of their leader.
This latest clash is a clear indication that the federal government need to take a proactive approach to ensure avoidance of further clashes in future.
